Ardith Karlsen
Ardith Karlsen was born in Warroad, Minnesota to Kenneth and Rose Karlsen. A natural-born artist with an exceptional talent and eye for color, Ardith has spent much of the last 40 years drawing, painting and experimenting with a wide range of media including oils, acrylics, pastels and—most recently—watercolor. She loves to incorporate color, texture and shape to evoke emotion in her in pieces. A life long learner, Ardith regularly takes workshops to learn and practice new techniques and skills, and has been blessed with the opportunity to meet and study with many renowned artists including Mark Ogle, Aaron Schuerr and Janet Sullivan.
In 1986, after many years of traveling between Montana and Alaska, Ardith made Kalispell, Montana her permanent home. Having lived most of her life in and around the Rocky Mountains, it is easy to see where Ardith's love of expansive landscapes, rugged terrain, and majestic mountains comes from.  Glacier National Park, Lake MacDonald and St. Mary Lake—as well as the wide range of local, natural elements like bear grass, fire weed and water features—are significant sources of inspiration and are featured regularly in her work. Having focused much of her time and talent on medium to small sized landscapes and scenes, she has recently started to apply that knowledge and skill to larger formats.
Ardith’s work has been featured in the Hockaday Members’ Shows, Miniature Shows and Studio Tours.  Her work is currently showing at the Persimmon Gallery in Big Fork, Montana.
